The Appeal
The Land Rover is a timeless sort of machine. For decades, these rugged off-roaders were the backbone of pastoral Britain. It's still a vehicle you'll spot plying its merry trade in many rural areas, and it's equally capable of attracting attention at rallies and car shows - a symbol of a much-loved bygone era.
This 1972 example in blue has been the subject of an extensive body-off restoration. The chassis was professionally repaired, the bulkhead and cab floors were replaced, and numerous new body panels were fitted throughout. The braking system was rebuilt, and a complete new exhaust was installed.
When the original restorer was unable to continue due to ill health, the vehicle was taken on for recommissioning. This second phase of work saw the engine fully rebuilt with new pistons, bearings, oil pump, unleaded valve seats, valves, springs, water pump, and carburettor. A new clutch, alternator, battery, and wiring loom complete the mechanical picture. A sympathetic cosmetic tidy-up and a fresh coat of chassis black to the underside round off what has been a thorough programme of renewal.
