Description

Highlights

  • 200 TDi engine upgrade (original 2.25 NA diesel included in the sale)
  • Wonderful patina: reportedly retains its original Marine Blue paintwork
  • Fitted with overdrive
  • In current ownership for over four years
  • Smart chassis presentation
  • Canvas tilt fitted over the rear load bed

The Appeal

Perfect patina. This Land Rover wears its decades of service with pride, and looks all the better for it.
We love to see a Series in its working clothes, especially a long-wheelbase pickup such as this Series III from 1980. As the photographs attest, it remains supremely original throughout in all aspects but one: the engine. Under the bonnet lies a very neatly installed 200 TDi, replacing the plodding 2.25-lire NA diesel originally fitted. This subtle upgrade, paired with an overdrive gearbox, greatly enhances usability, while the original engine is included with the sale for those who may wish to return it to factory specification.
Delightful period details included the now very hard-to-find Avon Rangemaster tyres, vintage raised-letter number plates, Hardura matt set, full cab headlining and door cards - features so often lost over time.
The vendor states the engine starts first time and reports that it drives exactly as a Series III should. It is being sold to make way for a Defender.
