Description
KEY FACTS
- This Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Targa is a desirable open-top modern classic, refinished in a vibrant colour scheme and offered from long-term ownership.
- It is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.6-litre air-cooled flat-six, driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.
- The car was manufactured in October 1990, and was supplied new to the UK where it was first registered in June 1991. HPI data shows that the first owner kept the car for just over a year, and the second owner had it for nearly 20 years. It has been with the current and third keeper for 14 years.
- The seller notes that the car is now in need of a top-end engine rebuild.
- The odometer indicates 95,300 miles from new.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
- While originally finished in black with a Classic Grey interior in leatherette and leather for the front seats, the car was colour-changed prior to the seller’s ownership; now finished in a vibrant yellow over a retrimmed black and yellow cabin.
- A Porsche CoA with the car shows factory options including sport seats with electric height adjustment, a rear wiper, two speakers on the rear shelf, and a top-tinted windscreen.
- It is equipped with Turbo-style split-rim alloy wheels, clear indicator lenses, yellow seatbelts, yellow dials, a yellow engine fan, a carbon heater bypass, and a JVC satellite navigation system with Bluetooth and rear camera.
- The car is accompanied by handbooks, a service history folder, and various spares, including: a sports exhaust, rear bumper corner, additional rear parcel shelf with original speaker grilles, and original engine heater fan.
CONDITION
- Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition.
- Specific notes from the seller include: the car has previously received a full respray from black to yellow, and the interior has been retrimmed from grey to black and yellow.
- The driver’s seat base is split, and there are some marks on the carpets.
- The seller reports that the electric seats and interior lights are not working and the alarm is intermittent at opening the passenger door.
- The most recent MOT test was on 11 March 2026 at 95,099 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with an advisory for a non-excessive central rear oil leak.
SERVICE HISTORY
- During March 2026, Mobile Porsche Specialist (MPS) carried out a service and vehicle health check, which noted that a top-end rebuild is required, both track rod end bushes were perished, and the driver’s side rear suspension arm bush had split
- In March 2025, a new fuel pump and fuel filter were fitted by MPS.
- The last documented service was in May 2017, when Porsche specialist GT One Ltd carried out an engine oil and filter change, replaced the clutch assembly, and fitted a new RPM speed sensor. Various advisories were noted on this invoice, as shown in the gallery.

SUMMARY
This Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Targa is a sought-after example of the modern classic sports car, combining air-cooled character with open-roof enjoyment. Finished in yellow with a retrimmed black and yellow cabin, it has been in the seller’s ownership for 14 years. A recent service noted that it now requires a top-end engine build; but once completed, this 964 should make an appealing choice for weekend drives, shows, and fair-weather touring.
