The Appeal
The 107" Truck Cab is a bit of an outlier in the Land Rover Series One range. Effectively turning the classic off-roader into a rugged, utilitarian closed pickup, it's amongst the most versatile of the Series 1, and certainly one of the most eye-catching. This handsome example comes to us with a full deluxe interior - a factory option that added £20 to the basic £690 list price when new.
Originally registered in Switzerland, this impressive example was imported to the UK in 2010, at which point it was professionally repainted in its original factory blue and became quite the celebrity in Land Rover circles. The vendor tells us that it's running well and has been used on a number of club events, including two trips to Belgium.
It's not often we see the Land Rover in this body style, and we're expecting it'll get plenty of interest at auction.
The vendor adds:
"Manufactured on 16 May 1955 & dispatched 25 May (with 5 other blue 107" truck cabs) to Titan, the Swiss Land Rover dealer. The vehicle was bought by a regional fire brigade, painted red, and kept as a reserve vehicle for transporting people (no pumps, etc., were fitted).
"I purchased the car from a Swiss classic car specialist with 7, 590 km (4, 716 miles) & bought it back to the UK in 2010. I had the Land Rover recommissioned & professionally painted back to the original blue. It's participated in a number of classic car events (& show prize winner at Classic Land Rover magazine show)."
