The Appeal

This generation of the SL is widely regarded as the last of the truly over-engineered Mercedes-Benz roadsters, built to a standard that prioritised engineering integrity above all else. The endurance of these handsome convertibles is the stuff of legend as a result, and for many the R129 is an essential modern classic.

This SL280 has been in the same family's care for 24 years, purchased when the odometer showed 25,400 miles. It was driven regularly at around 5,000 miles per year until 2020, and has since been exercised monthly to keep everything in order. The vendor states it retains a Mercedes-Benz main dealer service history from new, supported by a file of service and repair documentation, the original factory build sheet, and the leather owner's manual.

Freshly serviced by Mercedes-Benz Ashford in May 2026 with a current MOT, this is a well-documented, carefully maintained R129 offered with both hard and soft tops, two sets of keys, and a private registration plate.
