The Appeal
The Jaguar XJ-S is one of the great British grand tourers. The initial design was penned by the great aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer, although he sadly died before he could see it make production. Unlike its E-Type predecessor, which began life as a sports car, the XJ-S was developed with grand touring in mind from the outset. Its shape was super-slippery, and its V12 engine was a paragon of smoothness: an iron fist in a silk glove.
The convertible variant remains sought after among enthusiasts, offering a refined cruising experience that few cars of any era can match.
This 1989 example has been in its current keeper's hands since mid-2023 and has benefited from significant mechanical investment during that time. The vendor reports that it drives solidly and comfortably. The car recently passed its MOT and so is ready to meet its next custodian, just in time to enjoy the remainder of the summer.
