Description
A beautifully specified example of Aston Martin’s V12-powered grand tourer, finished in deep metallic blue with a complementary navy hood and parchment-and-blue leather interior.
Paint
The deep metallic-blue paintwork retains a strong gloss and complements the elegant lines of the Volante particularly well.
The colour appears consistent across the main panels and changes attractively with the available light, ranging from a rich navy shade to a brighter metallic blue.
The bonnet dent, marks beneath the front splitter and passenger-side sill scuff represent the most notable cosmetic points. There will also be occasional light stone chips and age-related blemishes consistent with the car’s mileage and use.
Despite these imperfections, the overall finish remains attractive and gives the Aston considerable road presence.
The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.
Bodywork
The DB7 remains one of the most elegant Aston Martin designs of the modern era, with a long bonnet, compact cabin and gently tapering tail.
The bodywork presents well overall, with the main panels appearing straight and the shut lines looking consistent around the bonnet, doors and boot.
A dent is present in the bonnet and should be taken into consideration by prospective buyers. Although noticeable upon inspection, it does not significantly disrupt the overall appearance of the car.
There is also a scuff to the passenger-side sill or skirt area.
The remainder of the bodywork appears smart, with no significant additional dents or areas of obvious damage identified during our visit.
The low front splitter gives the Vantage a purposeful appearance but has inevitably been exposed to road debris and changes in surface height. There are several noticeable chips and marks along its lower edge.
We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.
Dashboard
The dashboard combines navy leather with extensive burr-walnut veneer and traditional white-faced instrumentation.
The instruments include a large speedometer and rev counter, together with separate gauges monitoring fuel level, engine temperature and oil pressure.
The odometer indicated approximately 63,933 miles during our visit.
The centre console houses the ventilation and climate controls, analogue clock and other switchgear. An aftermarket JVC stereo has also been installed.
The walnut veneer retains an attractive colour and grain across the dashboard, centre console and door cappings. Some minor age-related imperfections may be visible upon close inspection, but the timber continues to give the interior a suitably luxurious character.
The drive
The DB7 Vantage Volante combines two very different personalities.
Driven gently, it is a refined open-top grand tourer. The automatic gearbox changes smoothly, the leather seats provide excellent comfort and the V12 delivers its power with very little effort.
Accelerate more firmly and the character changes considerably. The engine responds strongly and produces the rich twelve-cylinder soundtrack that makes this version of the DB7 so desirable.
During our drive, the engine performed extremely well and produced no unwanted noises. The automatic transmission operated smoothly, while the suspension remained quiet and composed.
The steering felt accurate and consistent, and the brakes provided reassuring stopping performance.
With the hood lowered and the tonneau cover fitted, the DB7 has considerable visual presence. Raising the roof transforms it into a more enclosed and refined grand tourer suitable for less favourable weather.
The combination of graceful styling, V12 power and an automatic gearbox makes this a particularly enjoyable Aston Martin for relaxed touring.
Glass and trim
The exterior glass, light units and surrounding trim present well overall.
The DB7 Vantage’s distinctive headlamp units appear clear, while the large round front fog lamps, rear light lenses and side repeaters are all present and free from obvious major damage.
The bright mesh grille forms an important part of the Vantage’s appearance and contrasts effectively against the dark blue paintwork. Aston Martin badging is present at the front and rear.
The windscreen and side glass appear clear, with the surrounding seals and trim looking presentable.
Twin polished exhaust outlets complete the rear of the car and provide a visual indication of the V12 beneath the bonnet.
Please view the photos and video below to review the condition of the glass and trim for yourself.
Wheels and tyres
The Aston is fitted with silver multi-spoke alloy wheels carrying Aston Martin-branded centre caps.
Their understated design suits the DB7 particularly well and allows the substantial brake discs and Aston Martin-branded calipers to remain visible behind the spokes.
The wheels present well overall, although the two passenger-side alloys have sustained some kerbing around their outer edges. Prospective buyers should examine the detailed photographs to assess the extent of these marks.
The driver’s-side wheels appear in better cosmetic condition, displaying only ordinary signs of age and use.
Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old.
Seats and carpets
The front seats are upholstered in parchment leather with contrasting navy bolsters, piping and head restraints.
Both seats retain their shape and supportive contours. The upholstery displays some gentle creasing and light discolouration consistent with age and use, but no significant tears or major areas of damage were apparent during our visit. Driver's seat shows some wear on the bolster.
The compact rear seats repeat the same parchment-and-navy colour scheme and remain in good overall condition. Although best suited to occasional passengers, they provide useful additional accommodation or luggage space.
Dark carpeting is fitted throughout the cabin and complements the navy dashboard and door trim. The carpets appear presentable, showing only ordinary evidence of use.
The parchment centre armrest and lower interior panels help brighten the cabin, particularly when the hood is lowered.
Please take a look at the photos and video below to decide on the condition of the seats and carpets for yourself.
Engine and gearbox
The DB7 Vantage is powered by Aston Martin’s 5,935cc, 48-valve, all-alloy V12 engine.
Producing a factory-quoted 420BHP and 400lb-ft of torque, it transformed the DB7 from an elegant grand tourer into a genuinely high-performance Aston Martin.
The engine started readily during our visit and settled into a smooth idle. No unwanted mechanical noises were apparent, and Terry reports that it has continued to perform extremely well.
Out on the road, the V12 delivered its power smoothly and progressively. Its soundtrack is a major part of the experience, remaining refined during gentle driving before developing a much more purposeful character under acceleration.
The engine bay presents well and retains its substantial factory covers, including the prominent Aston Martin V12 identification panel. Some light age-related patina is visible on the metal surfaces, but the overall presentation remains tidy.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic gearbox. The transmission operated smoothly during our drive, selecting its ratios without unwanted noises or noticeable hesitation.
Please watch the mechanical and on-the-road videos to hear the V12 starting and running and to see how the Aston performs away from the camera.
Electrics and other
The electrically operated folding hood worked correctly during our visit.
Once lowered, the navy tonneau cover fitted neatly over the folded roof mechanism and gave the car a smart, finished appearance.
The cabin is equipped with climate controls, heated-seat switches, electric windows, an analogue clock and an aftermarket JVC stereo.
No specific concern with the main equipment was raised by Terry.
The hood fabric and tonneau cover present well overall and complement the exterior paint and navy interior trim.
History and paperwork
Prospective buyers should examine the paperwork gallery carefully for the dates, recorded mileages and details of the servicing and repairs completed.
Terry is selling because, with advancing age, he feels that the time has come for the DB7 to pass to another enthusiast.
This represents an appealing opportunity to acquire an elegant V12-powered Aston Martin with attractive colours, good service history and the added enjoyment of open-top motoring.
We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.
We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.
If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.
Suspension and brakes
The DB7 Vantage received revised suspension and braking systems to complement the considerable performance of its V12 engine.
During the drive, the suspension felt composed and controlled, providing the comfortable ride expected from a grand tourer while keeping the car settled through bends.
No unwanted knocks, rattles or other concerning suspension noises were apparent.
The power-assisted steering also performed well, feeling smooth and predictable without any reported concerns.
Large disc brakes are fitted behind the alloy wheels, accompanied by Aston Martin-branded calipers. The brakes felt strong and reassuring during our journey, bringing the car to a stop without obvious pulling, vibration or unwanted noise.
Overall, the steering, suspension and brakes contributed to the impression of a well-maintained and enjoyable Vantage Volante.
Steering wheel gear stick
The steering wheel combines navy leather with a walnut upper rim and presents well overall.
Some light wear is visible around the areas most frequently handled, but it remains consistent with the otherwise well-preserved condition of the cabin.
