The Appeal
The Fiat 500L - the Lusso - added a layer of refinement to Fiat's legendarily utilitarian city car. Still ever-compact and simplistic, the 500's character remained ever-present with only gentle upgrades for the more discerning motorist. Needless to say, it's also the 500 of choice for modern enthusiasts.
This 1972 car ticks a lot of boxes. It carries the 594cc Fiat 126 engine with the additional cooling provided by an Abarth finned sump. This handsome machine also features a synchromesh gearbox and has had the front brakes upgraded to discs to handle the extra horsepower. It's a very well thought-through built, that's also undergone a bare metal restoration, comprehensively documented by photographs and invoices. A substantial history file accompanies the sale, including previous registration documents and restoration records. Bought right here at Car & Classic in 2021, it is now being offered up for sale as the vendor no longer has the space required.
