Description

Highlights

  • One of only 1,925 right-hand drive Series II examples produced
  • Comprehensive history file with documented bodywork restoration
  • Attractive dark blue coachwork with russet leather interior
  • The vendor reports all electrics functioning correctly
  • Fastidiously maintained and garaged throughout current ownership

The Appeal

Daimler did many things well, but what they did best was expanding upon Jaguar saloons and packing them with luxury. The Double Six took on the Series 2 XJ Saloon and made it a positively palatial piece of kit - significantly pricier than the original XJ and, thus, significantly rarer. Only 1,925 examples like this one were ever built and are increasingly scarce.

This particular car, manufactured in December 1977 and dispatched to its first owner in February 1978, is finished in the striking combination of dark blue coachwork with russet leather upholstery. It is accompanied by a comprehensive history file that includes invoices and photographs documenting a bodywork restoration carried out in 1999/2000 at a cost of well over £10,000.

The vendor describes this as a well-sorted example. Purchased from Car & Classic in 2021 and garage-kept since, it's covered less than 2,000 miles in the current ownership.
