KEY FACTS

  • A rare and desirable manual example of BMW’s E31-generation 850i, the marque’s V12-powered grand tourer of the era.
  • Under the bonnet sits a rebuilt WOKKE-tuned version of BMW’s naturally aspirated 5.0-litre ‘M70’ V12, said to produce around 337hp and 390lb-ft of torque, with power delivered to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.
  • First registered in 1992, this UK car has been with the seller for seven years.
  • The odometer shows 155,488 miles, which the seller believes to be the genuine total.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • This example is finished in Mauritius Blue metallic over a Silver Grey leather-trimmed interior, with darker grey on the dash, and accented by black trim.
  • It rides on 18-inch ‘Style 37’ alloy wheels, wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres.
  • Equipment includes an electric tilt-and-slide sunroof, electrically adjustable memory seats, HiFi speaker system, M Sport suspension, an electrically adjustable steering column, and an alarm system.
  • The car has been fitted with the CSi-style Sport body kit including side mirrors, parking sensors, and also features the M-Tech II steering wheel.
  • Modifications include WOKKE reprogrammed DME EML chips, said to increase output to 337hp and 390lb-ft of torque, along with a SPEC Stage 2 clutch.
  • It is accompanied by receipts and invoices, photographic documentation of the engine and gearbox rebuild from 2010, and one key.

CONDITION

  • Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition.
  • Specific notes from the seller include: The car was resprayed in its original colour in 2026, with new jacking points previously welded and sealed. The headliner has also been replaced, while the driver’s seat shows some minor cracking but no rips.
  • The most recent MOT test took place on 2 June 2026 at 155,460 miles, resulting in a first-time pass with no advisories.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • The seller notes the latest service was during June 2026 at 155,470 miles by Bhogal’s Autos. Work included an engine oil and filter change, along with the replacement of the air filters, fuel filter hoses, power steering fluid, and brake fluid.
  • During the seller's ownership, the car has undergone an extensive programme of mechanical refurbishment and preventative maintenance, with a significant amount spent. Major works include a full transmission and differential service, the installation of new fuel pumps and seals, recommissioning of the fuel pump system, new fuel hoses, brake lines, fuel filter, charcoal filter, and a rebuilt ABS pump. The braking system has also been comprehensively overhauled with rebuilt brake calipers, together with new brake discs and pads.
  • The seller notes that the suspension has been extensively renewed, with virtually all suspension arms, bushes and ball joints replaced. This includes new upper track control arms, front lower control arms and ball joints, front inner and outer wishbone bushes, rear axle bushes, tie rods, sway bar links, and both front near-side and off-side driveshafts. Additionally, both the front and rear subframes have been removed and professionally powder-coated.
  • Further mechanical improvements include a new SPEC Stage 2 performance clutch, together with the gearbox tunnel being relined with heat-resistant insulation, new engine mounts, a new heater matrix system, upgraded heat-wrapped ignition leads, a new distributor cap and rotor arm, and replacement washers for the wiper housing.
  • Prior to the seller’s ownership, it was looked after by 8 Series specialist Chris Burton Cars since 2009, and was owned by him from 2012 until 2019. It was reportedly given an overhaul just before the current owner took delivery.
  • The engine rebuild was carried out in 2010 by Chris Burton Cars at 152,000 miles, which is documented in the photo gallery.
