The Appeal
Launching shortly after the 90s economic downturn, the E38 seemed beautifully oblivious to people tightening their wallets. This was a grand tourer pedigree through and through, with an impressive V8 powerplant and plenty of ritzy features for the time, including LED instruments and plenty of electronic features. It remains a deeply handsome car, too. The low-slung shark nose, courtesy of Boyoy Boyer, still makes for one of the best silhouettes to roll off a Bavarian production line.
This 1995 example has covered 43,303 miles and has been carefully stored for much of its life. The vendor describes it as being in fantastic condition, accompanied by invoices dating back to 2014. The interior remains clean and stock, retaining its cassette player, rear CD changer and DSP audio system.
A few minor items require attention: the centre console audio LCD and rear electronic sunblind both need repair, and a corroded rear brake pipe was noted on the last MOT - but for a car approaching its fourth decade, it's a fine prospect - a very handsome example of a highly celebrated saloon.
