If you like the mid-sized luxury of a Mercedes E-Class but with a more interesting twist, the four-door coupé CLS with its pillarless doors is the car to buy.

Launched in 2004, the C219 CLS ventured into a new market for Mercedes-Benz. It was based on the E-Class, but with unique, teardrop-shaped styling and a coupé-style roof line, pillarless doors and a smaller, more driver-focused cabin.

It was a niche car but one that found a following among those who wanted S-Class levels of luxury without the bulk, and those who preferred to pilot themselves rather than be driven around by a chauffeur.
