The Appeal

Taking the Spitfire and making it into a compact, eager little six-cylinder coupé was a bit of a masterstroke for the boys in Canley. Giovanni Michelotti's designs were beyond impressive, conjuring up cars well beyond the GT6's station. There was more of a Jaguar E-Type than there was the traditional Triumph roadster, and it quickly garnered an audience. The initial outgoing cars were flawed when it came to handling, but by the Mk3, they had become refined, agile and amicable little sports cars - a fitting addition to the Great British pantheon.

As one of the very last examples built before the model bowed out in December 1973, this car holds particular appeal for Triumph enthusiasts seeking a late-production example. This Mimosa yellow GT6 has enjoyed a remarkably stable history, spending its first 20 years with the same family before a period of storage and then passing to its current keeper in 2005. A thorough refurbishment in 2007 addressed the mechanical and structural fundamentals, the details of which are outlined below. According to the vendor, the car starts first time and delivers a fantastic soundtrack.
It's a fine opportunity for a particularly fine Triumph coupé, and we're sure it'll charm any enthusiast.
