Description

KEY FACTS

  • An elegant and sophisticated classic British grand tourer, this Aston Martin DB6 is a refined hand-built GT, presented in an attractive colour combination.
  • It is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre straight-six, driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.
  • First registered in February 1968, this example has been with the seller and the fourth owner since August 2005.
  • The odometer indicates 23,824 miles, though this is not warranted.
  • This example benefits from a previous restoration, which was carried out by technicians at John Gburek Car Restoration between 1991 and 1995.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • This DB6 is finished in the appealing shade of Royal Blue with a dark blue vinyl Webasto sunroof over a tan leather-trimmed interior, featuring a contrasting black dashboard and chrome trim highlights.
  • It rides on a set of 15-inch chrome cross-spoke wire wheels with three-spoke knock-offs, fitted with Avon Turbospeed tyres.
  • Equipment includes a wood-rimmed steering wheel, push-out front and rear quarter light windows, Smiths gauges, electric front windows, a Smiths analogue clock, heater and ventilation controls, and a Radiomobile stereo.
  • The car comes with the V5C, the historical restoration information, a typed document covering notable maintenance, and a large collection of maintenance invoices and MOT certificates.
  • One ignition key is included.

CONDITION

  • Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition.
  • Specific notes from the seller include: the car has previously received a complete respray by Piddingtons of High Wycombe. There is a small dent on the bonnet, a slight dent on the driver’s side, a scratch along the lower driver-side sill, and a few other minor dents around the bodywork. The interior sun visor trim has come apart and may require repair, and the boot floor carpet has some tears.
  • The car is exempt from mandatory MOT testing due to its age.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • The last recorded service was in February 2022 at an indicated 23,301 miles by Richard Thorne, Grazeley Green, Reading, which included carburettor tuning, an engine oil and filter change, new spark plugs, and new brake master cylinder electric caps.
  • In April 2023, technicians at Rindt Vehicle Design Limited rebuilt the carburettors, including new floats, and cured fuel leaks.
  • Other notable maintenance includes the fitment of a new brake servo in June 2024.
  • Restoration work carried out between 1991 and 1995 by technicians at John Gburek Car Restoration included the engine being rebuilt with all new parts except for the cylinder head, the differential being rebuilt, the gearbox being stripped, a new clutch installed, replacement seats, new carpets, and a full respray.

SUMMARY

This Aston Martin DB6 is a stylish grand tourer, presented in an appealing specification and benefitting from long-term enthusiast ownership. Having received notable mechanical recommissioning work and cosmetic refurbishment during its life, it would make an attractive addition to any collection of significant British classics.
