Description

  • Introduced in 1992, the Escort RS Cosworth was a homologation special based on the fifth generation Ford Escort and its sole role was to incorporate parts that Ford planned to use in their 'Group A' rally cars to ensure success in the World Rally Championship, a 'Group A' rally car for the road - pure and simple
  • Presented in desirable Radiant Red with a black leather Recaro interior and first registered in the UK on 12/08/1993 (build date November 1992), this is one of the early 2,500 homologation cars
  • It's powered by the 2.0-litre YBT 'big turbo' Cosworth engine, remaining in standard specification and producing 227bhp mated to a 5-speed MT75 gearbox
  • Showing 70,761 miles indicated at the time of cataloguing, with MOT until March 2027 issued with no advisories, four years current ownership and just two former registered keepers
  • Supplied with a detailed history file including the original Bill of Sale to first owner Mr M Buller dated 04/08/1993, original RS brochures, showroom documentation, every MOT Certificate from 1997 onwards, extensive service invoices, spare keys and Sigma alarm documentation
  • Sympathetically recommissioned and refreshed during current ownership with works including repairs to the sill, sunroof and rear window surrounds, refurbishment of the engine bay and exhaust, replacement spoiler gaskets and attention to localised corrosion while retaining an honest and un-restored character wherever possible
  • Major maintenance completed in February 2023 including cambelt, tensioners and pulleys, replacement fuel tank and fuel pump, cooling and power steering pipes and a new speedo cable, alongside a set of period-correct Pirelli P700-Z tyres from Longstone Tyres and a rare new original Ford front lower splitter
  • Further recent expenditure includes cylinder head refacing and head gasket replacement by JAM Sport in August 2023, refurbishment of the RDS2007 stereo by Retro Car Audio, servicing in 2024 and 2025, new discs and pads, replacement ABS sensors and crankshaft oil seal
  • Accompanied by a red Ford indoor car cover from the original owner, refurbishment photographs, spare parts, two main keys with working torch inserts, spare key and two alarm fobs
