Description

Background:
Conceived specifically for congested city environments, the Smart Fortwo combined compact dimensions, innovative packaging and distinctive styling to create a car unlike anything else on the road. Its clever design maximised interior space while maintaining an exceptionally small footprint, making it ideally suited to urban driving.

For those seeking additional performance and exclusivity, Smart turned to renowned German tuning specialist Brabus. The result was the Fortwo Brabus, a more focused interpretation featuring increased turbocharged power, revised suspension, unique alloy wheels, upgraded interior trim and a more purposeful exterior design.

The Car:
Finding a Smart Fortwo Brabus is relatively straightforward. Finding one with just 11,732 miles, two owners and a documented Mercedes-Benz service history is considerably more difficult.

First registered in 2005, this UK-supplied example is presented in Silver Metallic, a finish that complements the Fortwo's distinctive Tridion safety cell particularly well. Powered by the turbocharged 698cc three-cylinder engine, it features the desirable Brabus performance package, including Brabus Monoblock alloy wheels, sports suspension, twin centre-exit exhaust system, an instrument package with rev counter and boost gauge, Brabus speedometer and aluminium pedals.

The cabin is trimmed in black leather and benefits from a panoramic glass roof, automatic transmission with manual shift function, the original Smart by Grundig audio system, electric windows and remote central locking. The car is also accompanied by its original Smart Certificate of Conformity, Smart key code card and original service book.

Having covered just 11,732 miles from new and passed through the hands of only two owners, this example has clearly been carefully preserved throughout its life. The accompanying Mercedes-Benz service history further supports its exceptionally low mileage and careful ownership.

Recent history includes:

  • MOT passed on 16 June this year with no advisories.

The original service book contains the following entries:

  • 18/07/2005 – Pre-delivery inspection completed by Mercedes-Benz Milton Keynes at 10 miles
  • 31/01/2008 – Service completed by Smart Service London at 2,388 miles
  • 11/03/2011 – Service completed by Mercedes-Benz Brentford at 6,404 miles
  • 23/02/2015 – Service completed by Mercedes-Benz Brentford at 7,517 miles
  • 10/03/2016 – Service completed by Mercedes-Benz Brentford at 7,659 miles
  • 07/03/2017 – Service completed by Mercedes-Benz Brentford at 7,948 miles

Compact enough to fit almost anywhere yet packed with character, the Fortwo Brabus remains one of the most entertaining and distinctive modern city cars available. Interest in early Smart models continues to grow, particularly performance variants such as the Brabus, making well-preserved, low mileage examples increasingly difficult to find.
