The Appeal

Mercedes’ W460 G-Wagon sits at the sweet point between Land Rover utility and Range Rover luxury. Add in impeccable Stuttgart quality and you have a very appealing alternative to the more common British and Japanese rivals.

Their relatively high cost means that W460S are rare in RHD. This one has the specification, low mileage and condition that would make it ideal as a daily all-roader or there is scope to take it to the next level. It is the 280GE model with the 180bhp M110 straight six mated to a manual gearbox.

The vendor’s family first acquired this Bronze metallic short wheelbase model in 1998. Sparing use since - it is showing a little under 110,00 miles from new - has helped preserve the aesthetics, particularly the lovely ‘camel’ checkered interior with its burr walnut trim. The exterior is presentable with a few areas to note in the photos. They look like they could be lived with or would be straightforward to improve.

In 2025, the oil filter and plugs were changed, and the starter motor was refurbished. Older work in 2021 includes a new battery, fuel hose and brake switch. It comes to market with the reassurance of a lengthy, advisory-free MOT.

The vendor says:

“The vehicle is in great condition for its age and other than the items mentioned, only requires some minor TLC.”
