The Appeal
Introduced as Austin's answer to the Morris Minor, the A30's cheerful styling, diminutive proportions, and willing 803cc engine quickly became a common sight across the country. It was a little bit cheaper than its low-cost rival, and boasted design input from Raymond Loewy's legendary design studios - albeit redesigned for austerity by the British company's in-house team. It was a perfectly priced, very stylish little car for the mid-century motorist.
This 1953 example was purchased from Car & Classic in 2024 following an extensive restoration to a very high standard. Garage-stored since, this restoration is still in fine order, and the car has since been fitted with an electronic distributor along with a new cap, leads, and coil. With only around 400 miles covered in the current ownership, and a grand total of 507 miles clocked up since restoration, this A30 four-door is a fabulous machine that's sure to garner plenty of interest at auction
