The Appeal
Racing pedigree means the Mk2 is the car people remember, but indeed the S-Type was the pinnacle of Jaguar's '60s sporting saloon range. Equipped with Jaguar's super independent rear suspension system which employs inboard brakes, paired with the Le Mans-winning 3.8-litre XK straight-six, the S-Type was supremely accomplished to drive. Many look upon it as the four-door E-Type.
This 1965 example benefits from a substantial history file containing invoices that trace back to the original owner, including the original sales receipt. In the current keeper's hands since 2022, it has undergone a mechanical overhaul and reportedly been brought up to MOT standards.
The interior has been refreshed with new carpets, while the exterior presents well with appealing patina. A Moto-Lita steering wheel has been fitted, though the original is included in the sale.
