The Appeal
The Morris Minor 1000 Traveller remains one of the most charming and recognisable British classics, and this 1964 example is one of the interesting 'dual personality' cars produced between 1962 and 1964. These transitional vehicles combined trim items from the earlier Series 3 models with a duo-tone interior unique to those years, making them a distinctive find for the Minor enthusiast.
Known affectionately as 'Florrie', this Traveller has been in the current owner's care for approximately seven years. In 2022, the car reportedly underwent a major structural restoration by a specialist classic car restoration company, addressing the front doors, inner and outer wings, bumper, valance, and nearside sills. The woodwork was attended to, with new driver-side timber around the door frame and B-pillar, while the remaining sound timber was stripped, re-preserved, and wax-oiled. Inside, the car has been fully sound-deadened and fitted with new headlining throughout.
Mechanically, the investment has been equally thorough. A high-specification rebuilt gearbox from East Sussex Minors with new clutch was fitted in 2024, the front and rear suspension was completely overhauled with polybushes in 2025, and this year has seen a new timing chain and exhaust. Earlier modifications include front disc brakes with servo, a front anti-roll bar, and an alternator conversion. The vendor describes it as a rolling restoration taken as far as they wish, not perfect in every area, but a car that presents well, runs well, and is ready to collect and drive away.
