KEY FACTS

  • A rare and highly sought-after homologation-era performance saloon, this Ford Sierra RS Cosworth 4x4 Rouse 304R is one of the special Andrew Rouse-developed examples, combining the Sierra's renowned turbocharged performance with distinctive Rouse enhancements and provenance.
  • It is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four driving all four wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.
  • Supplied new by Grays Ford of Guildford to Mary Gray, wife of the dealership owner, the car retains its supplying dealer stickers and number plates, and is accompanied by a letter from Andrew Rouse.
  • First registered in August 1991, this example has had three private owners from new.
  • This Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth 4x4 Rouse Sport 304R is one of just 100 examples that were planned for production, though the final number produced is understood to be 78.
  • The odometer indicates 89,167 miles, however this is not warranted.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • The Rouse 304R was an enhanced variant of the Ford Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth 4x4 developed by BTCC legend Andy Rouse in conjunction with the Ford Motor Company. These limited-edition upgraded models featured an aerodynamic bodykit, a Garrett turbocharger, a remapped ECU, reworked turbo, induction and exhaust systems, exterior Rouse decals, and Rouse-branded Recaro seats.
  • This example is finished in the refined shade of Moondust Silver, over a black leather-trimmed interior.
  • It rides on a set of 15-inch Lattice alloy wheels fitted with Toyo Proxes TR1 tyres.
  • Equipment includes headlamp washers, a heated rear screen, a digital clock, heater and ventilation controls, a Ford-branded cassette and CD stereo, a manually operated sunroof, and electrically operated windows and door mirrors.
  • Accompanying the car are the original handbooks, original document wallet, stamped service book, Andrew Rouse correspondence, historic MOT certificates, and two original keys with the immobiliser fob.

CONDITION

  • Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition.
  • Specific notes from the seller include: the car has previously received paintwork during its life. The rear headlining is sagging slightly and could benefit from being pinned back into position.
  • MOT test history is shown via the button in the listing overview.

SUMMARY

This Ford Sierra RS Cosworth 4x4 Rouse 340R is a very rare and desirable example of one of the most celebrated British performance cars of the early 1990s, enhanced by its association with Andrew Rouse. Supplied new to the family behind its original Ford dealership and understood to be one of only 78 examples produced, it offers particularly appealing provenance alongside its distinctive specification. Equally suited to a marque-focused collection, enthusiast events, or fast-road enjoyment, it represents an increasingly hard-to-find example of the legendary four-wheel-drive Cosworth.
