KEY FACTS

  • A highly sought-after and increasingly collectible modern classic performance roadster, this BMW Z3 M Roadster is one of the later examples fitted with the desirable S54 straight-six engine, pairing compact dimensions with a charismatic naturally aspirated powertrain and rear-wheel-drive handling balance.
  • It is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.2-litre ‘S54’ straight-six, delivering power to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.
  • First registered in October 2001, this example has been with the seller since September 2025.
  • The odometer shows 60,331 miles from new.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • This seller believes that this Z3 M Roadster is one of just four examples finished in the bold shade of Imola Red II with a matching hard-top and a black soft-top roof, over a two-tone Imola Red and Black Nappa leather-trimmed interior, punctuated by chrome trim.
  • It rides on a set of reportedly recently refurbished 17-inch ‘Style 40’ five-spoke alloy wheels fitted with reportedly brand new Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres.
  • Equipment includes xenon headlights, twin chrome roll-over hoops, air conditioning, Dynamic Stability Control, an outside temperature gauge, an analogue clock, a Becker Cascade CD stereo with navigation, a front strut brace, and partially electrically adjustable heated seats.
  • This example has been fitted with an AC Schnitzer steering wheel, roll hoops, wiper stalks, handbrake handle, oil cap, a driver’s footrest, and pedal covers, as well as an aftermarket M-branded gear knob, a Strong Strut front strut brace, and an Eisenmann quad-exit exhaust system.
  • Accompanying the car are the original handbooks, Becker stereo handbook, service booklet, some supporting invoices and two original keys.

SUMMARY

The Z3 M Roadster has become one of BMW M Division's most characterful modern classics, blending compact dimensions, rear-wheel-drive dynamics and naturally aspirated straight-six performance into an increasingly desirable package. This late-production S54-powered example is particularly appealing thanks to its factory specification, attractive Imola Red II colour combination, and documented maintenance record. Equally suited to enthusiastic B-road drives, summer touring and modern-classic events, it would make a rewarding addition to any collection of analogue performance cars.
