Highlights

  • In the same family's ownership since nearly new
  • Only four registered keepers
  • Scarce five-door hatchback variant

The Appeal

Oh how we miss Saab. The defunct Swedish manufacturer was innovative until the end. You could say that ambition was at the root of its downfall. Take the 900, for example. With its longitudinal engine tilted at a 45-degree angle, the transmission is mounted directly underneath in a unique transaxle design, making space for double-wishbone front suspension. Throw a big turbocharger into the mix, and this was one seriously impressive car.
This particular example stands out as the very rare five-door hatchback variant. Having been cherished by an Italian gentleman for most of its life and remaining in the same family since nearly new, this Turbo offers an unusually low ownership history that adds significant provenance. While showing some signs of age that present an opportunity for improvement, this is fundamentally a solid, usable classic that delivers the authentic turbocharged Saab driving experience.
