The Appeal
For those looking for a little more from their 996 Turbo, there was the X50 pack. This added a range of improvements, most notably a power hike to 450bhp. Right at the end of the 996’s production run, Porsche announced arguably the best Turbo - the simply named S, which incorporated the X50 improvements plus further upgrades.
These are rare cars. This ‘triple black’ example has covered under 45,000 miles and adds Tiptronic and convertible versatility to its appeal. It is supplied with a matching hard top. Across the interior and exterior, it is in very good order for a 21-year-old car.
The car has only had a handful of keepers from new, with the current one since 2016. It has been well maintained by main dealers and specialists. The last service was in December 2024, with very few miles since. A few months earlier, it received work to the brakes and suspension totalling over £2,500. The ECU was recently replaced by 911 Virgin. The current MOT runs to November 2026, with a single advisory noting that the car is fitted with undertrays.
The 996 is edging classic status and the Turbo S is the ultimate evolution of the model’s forced induction theme. This low mileage, well maintained car impresses.
