Description
With its unmistakable Michelotti styling and cheerful driving character, this 1968 Triumph Herald 13/60 Convertible is an honest British classic that's ready to be enjoyed. Finished in 'Signal Red', the Herald remains an eye-catching classic that still presents well following its respray in 2011. Closer inspection reveals some honest age-related imperfections, including light micro-blistering on the bonnet, a handful of paint runs and some areas of overspray. These cosmetic blemishes are reflected in the car's honest presentation and do little to detract from its overall appeal as a usable classic. The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint. The bodywork presents well overall and retains the Herald's distinctive Michelotti-designed lines. As with many classics of this age, there are areas that could be improved, most notably the panel gaps, which are not perfect and could benefit from adjustment should the next owner wish to refine the presentation further. We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves. The traditional wooden dashboard retains plenty of period charm and houses a clear, easy-to-read set of instruments. Everything appears to function as expected with the exception of the dashboard clock, which is currently inoperative. Behind the wheel, the Herald delivers exactly what you'd expect from a well-kept British classic. The engine runs smoothly, the gearbox shifts cleanly through each ratio, and its lightweight nature makes it easy to drive and enjoyable at relaxed speeds. With the roof down, it's an engaging and characterful companion that's best enjoyed on sunny days. The glass appears to be in good condition throughout, while the chrome trim, bumpers and brightwork continue to present well. Completing the package is a tonneau cover, allowing the car to be neatly covered when parked or used with the hood folded down. Please view the photos and video below to review the condition of the glass and trim for yourself. The car benefits from a recent set of tyres, providing added reassurance for its next owner. Complementing them are a new set of chrome hubcaps, which freshen the overall appearance and suit the Herald's period styling perfectly. Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old. The black seats remain in good condition with only light signs of age, while the carpets are clean and presentable throughout. Together they create a smart interior that has clearly been looked after. Please take a look at the photos and video below to decide on the condition of the seats and carpets for yourself. The engine starts readily and runs well, with Martin reporting no unwanted noises or mechanical concerns. The gearbox selects gears smoothly, making for a relaxed driving experience. Overall, it is an honest, well-maintained classic that's ready to be driven and enjoyed by its next owner. The electrical equipment appears to function as intended, with one known exception: the dashboard clock is currently inoperative. The car is also supplied with a full tonneau cover, adding practicality when parked or for open-top touring, and will receive a fresh MOT before collection, giving the next owner added peace of mind. Included within the history file is a good collection of invoices detailing maintenance and repair work carried out throughout the car's life, demonstrating that it has been cared for rather than simply used. These are complemented by a large collection of previous MOT certificates, helping to build a comprehensive record of the Herald's history and offering an insight into its long-term ownership and upkeep. Martin has had a fresh MOT carried out, which expires on 03.08.2027. We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check. We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming. If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house. Martin assures us that both the suspension and braking system perform well, allowing the Herald to feel composed and predictable on the road. It offers the light, enjoyable driving experience these cars are known for, inspiring confidence whether cruising country lanes or heading to a local classic car meet. The classic steering wheel and gear lever continue the Herald's simple, characterful driving experience. The gearstick operates smoothly through the gears, helping make this an easy and enjoyable classic to drive.
