KEY FACTS

  • This DAX 427 Cobra replica is a faithful and involving tribute to the iconic 1960s American sports car, offered with low mileage from new and a well-documented history.
  • Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated 350-cubic inch (5.7-litre) V8, which sends its power to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.
  • First registered in August 2014, this example has been with the seller for four years.
  • The odometer shows just 6,012 miles from new.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • This Cobra replica was manufactured by sports car specialist DAX Cars, which was the first British brand to make a faithful replica of the original AC 427 Cobra, and in the 1970s had the original designer of the AC Ace, John Tojeiro, on its team to ensure as much accuracy as possible.
  • This example is finished in the quintessential shade of Guardsman Blue with contrasting Wimbledon White racing stripes, over a Crema leather-trimmed interior, featuring contrasting navy seat piping and carpets, and brushed metal and chrome trim.
  • It rides on a set of 18-inch Halibrand-style split-rim alloy wheels with faux three-spoke knock-offs, shod in Toyo Proxes T1 Sport tyres.
  • Equipment includes glass side wind deflectors, twin chrome roll-over bars, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a Willans driver’s harness, a billet aluminium gear knob, push-button start, ETB Instruments gauges, and elasticated door card storage pockets.
  • The car comes with the V5C, a handbook regarding the initial build from DAX, and an extensive collection of maintenance and parts invoices.
  • One ignition key is included.

CONDITION

  • Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition.
  • The car’s last MOT test was conducted on 7 March 2025 at 5,933 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • The car’s most recent maintenance was carried out in March 2025 at 5,933 miles by Days Garage, which consisted of a new alternator being fitted.
  • A full overhaul of the car was performed in 2022, which included the fuel tank being drained and cleaned out, a new fuel pump fitted, including making a bespoke bracket to relocate the unit further away from the propshaft (old pump touched the propshaft), all the fuel lines being remade incorporating a metal fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator in the system , the carburettor being cleaned out, the rear suspension being dismantled and rebuilt, the front suspension checked over, new wheel bearings and shock absorber bushes fitted, the front shock absorbers correctly adjusted, all the suspension reset before a four wheel alignment, a new stronger steering column mounting bracket fabricated, new column bushes and union joints, a bespoke bracket fabricated from the chassis housing correct-size rose joints to carry the lower steering shaft into the steering rack, the handbrake pads replaced, the handbrake linkage freed off and adjusted, and a bespoke sump guard fabricated.

SUMMARY

This DAX 427 Cobra replica is an intoxicating tribute to the legendary 1960s American sports car, offered with low mileage from new and a well-documented history. Presented with an attractive colour scheme, faithfully recreated styling, and boasting a potent and vocal V8 engine coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox, it would make an excellent addition to any collection, and an exciting companion for weekend cruising and car show visits alike.
