The Appeal
After the war, Alvis returned to the car-making business with aplomb. The rakish new TA21, with the ultra-smooth three-litre engine that gave the car its common name, was technically innovative. Alongside that new engine there were powerful Lockheed brakes and independent front suspension. These were cars aimed at the discerning buyer and the cabins were exquisitely trimmed. Just 1,316 were built over three years.
Here is a very rare survivor. Built in 1951, it is classically finished in black, a colour that accents the extensive chromework, with a lovely tan leather interior. Inside and out it is a timely reminder of just how why Alvis was one of the most distinguished British car makers.
This car is reported to have covered less than 59,000 miles in its time. It is in good condition, perhaps not concours, but with that well-regarded 6-cylinder engine, this is a car to use and enjoy.
We are told it was recently checked over and serviced by specialist Red Triangle. There is also a recent MOT from June 2024 that provides transparency for the buyer. We are told that it drives very well.
