The Appeal
The 1960s and 1970s were a time of pure excess. American cars just seemed to be getting larger, their interiors more luxurious, and their styling more eyecatching—and what a glorious time it was. Cars like the Lincoln Continental were incredibly aspirational for motorists on both sides of the pond. After all, who doesn't want a big, bold, beautiful sedan?
The 4th-gen Continental was a little bit smaller than its predecessors - though still over 18 feet in length - but it was amongst the most solidly built cars of the era. Ford was, at the time, on a huge quality push, and it really shows. Even 60 years later, everything about the 4th-gen Continental feels luxurious and impressive.
Previously based in its home state of Michigan, this fabulous luxury car arrived on British soil in 2015 - after which it underwent plenty of work to keep its enormous 7-litre V8 powerplant burbling away at its best. The electrics are all working as they should, the car is offering a powerful, refined ride and - by all accounts - is ready and waiting to be driven away.
Big old American classics like this are a scarce sight on this side of the Atlantic, and we think this one will garner plenty of interest.
