The Appeal
Today, the modern Ford Puma is yet another 'crossover' SUV. But there was a time when the name Puma referred to one of the very best sporting coupés money could buy.
Here we have what must be among the very best examples of this fine car left in existence, with just two registered keepers and 20,646 miles on the clock.
The current owner has ensured its longevity with a major service in 2023, including the replacement of the cam belt and aux belt, and has taken the extra step of undersealing the car to protect it from the elements.
The vendor says:
"The car drives very well the handling is excellent. It’s great fun to drive I always enjoy driving my Puma, the engine performs strongly."
History and Paperwork
- RHD UK market example registered in 2000
- Two registered keepers from new
- Two services carried out since the vendor acquired the car
- Part service history available
- Major service completed in 2023, including cam belt and aux belt
- 20,646 miles
- MOT until 9th February 2026
The vendor tells us:
"The car was owned by the same person until 2023. I don’t have any service history before I brought it in 2023 but I was told that the person who owned it died and her son couldn’t find the service history unfortunately.
"The car had a major service in 2023 by a specialist: cam belt, aux belt etc. It was professionally undersealed in 2023 the guy who did the work said the car is mint also the MOT tester said it’s dead on and he hadn’t seen one like this in a long time. I keep the car on the drive with an all weather sheet on it."
The Condition
- Impeccably presented inside and out
- Standard with no modifications
- The bodywork and paint appear very smart overall; some stone chips and age-related marks present
- Silver paintwork presents well for its age
- Some small stone chips on the body work, and some minor scratches and rust spots
- Some marks to the alloy wheels visible in the photographs
- The wing mirrors have some chips on them and the passenger wing mirror plastic is cracked; the vendor has replacement mirrors that come with the car
- The vendor also provides a spare headlight to replace the passenger side light, as the rubber seal has deteriorated
- Underside reported to be in very good condition by the vendor
- The cabin looks especially smart with no notable wear, in line with the ultra-low mileage
- The fabric on the doors has come undone at the corners but the vendor notes that this is easy to fix
- The vendor notes a small stain on the boot carpet
- The interior clock isn’t fully readable
The Mechanics
- 1.7-litre Zetec inline-four petrol
- Five-speed manual
