The Appeal

The Ford Fiesta RS Turbo remains one of the most coveted fast Fords of the 1990s — a genuine pocket rocket that punched well above its weight and has since become a staple of the scene, if not one of its most definitive cars. Survival rates have not been kind to these cars, with over-ambitious driving claiming many examples over the years, which makes this recently completed build all the more noteworthy.

The story here is a familiar one for Ford enthusiasts: the seller's RS Turbo had sound running gear but a shell that had succumbed to rot, so in 2015 a solid replacement shell was sourced and the RS Turbo mechanicals were transplanted across. After a pause of several years in storage, the project was taken to a workshop in 2024 and brought to completion in February 2026, passing its MOT with no advisories. The 1.6 CVH turbo engine was rebuilt in 2018 and features a specification that includes Kent Cams, a polished and ported head, and a custom-built hybrid T3 Garrett turbo.

This is very much an honest RS Turbo tribute with character — a car for the Ford enthusiast who appreciates the mechanicals and is happy to continue the journey. The seller reports that it boosted happily on its drive to the MOT station.

History and Paperwork

  • First registered in 1995 in the United Kingdom
  • Shell purchased by the seller in 2015 as a donor for their RS Turbo running gear, which was transferred from their original, heavily corroded RS Turbo
  • Project paused for several years with the vehicle stored in a garage
  • Moved to another workshop in 2024 where assembly began
  • Build completed in February 2026
  • 61,522 miles showing on the odometer
  • Being sold due to loss of storage

The Condition

  • RS Turbo body kit fitted with Fiesta SI front and rear bumpers
  • Presents well following a 2025 respray in Ford RS Black
  • Bodywork is generally sound, with gentle wear here and there
  • Brightly contrasting white wheels and mirrors
  • Interior was originally stripped bare for planned track day use
  • Change of plans led to interior trim being sourced; the original RS interior was sold years ago
  • Fitted with SI front and rear seats and the original dashboard
  • Custom carpet was sourced a previous Max Power project and is growing a little tired

The Mechanics

  • 1.6-litre CVH RS Turbo engine
  • 5-speed manual transmission
  • Engine rebuilt in 2018
  • Engine specifications include:
    • Kent Cams (Fast Road)
    • Polished and ported head
    • Samco hose set
    • Magnicor HT leads
    • Brown injectors
    • Custom-built hybrid T3 Garrett turbo
    • Baileys dump valve
  • Engine has developed smoke on start-up since being stored
    • A garage has advised that valve stem oil seals need replacing
  • Turbo was never reconditioned and was refitted from a box of parts
    • This carries a slight play in the turbine — would benefit from reconditioning or replacement
  • The seller drove the vehicle to the MOT station and reports it boosted happily and generally runs nicely
