The Appeal

Badge engineered from the Austin A99 Westminster, the Vanden Plas Princess was rightfully celebrated as one of the most lavish cars on the market. Beautifully furnished with burr walnut and plush leather, this distinguished, straight-laced car still feels utterly palatial, and under the 'R' specification boasted an all-aluminium, Rolls-Royce-designed 3,909cc straight-six engine mated to a three-speed automatic transmission - which was capable of over 90mph cruising. Produced in limited numbers between 1964 and 1968, these refined saloons are increasingly scarce, and finding a well-preserved example is no small feat.

This 1965 car is a fitting ambassador. Beautifully kept from top to bottom in a handsome two-tone livery, it boasts a very handsome cabin, plenty of originality and a fine history folder - a luxurious British classic that ticks plenty of boxes.
