The Appeal

The XJ40 marked a bold new chapter for Jaguar's saloon lineage, pairing the marque's hallmark refinement with a thoroughly modern chassis and the characterful 3.6-litre AJ6 inline-six. For the time, it was rather revolutionary - and the Sovereign soon gained a reputation for comfort and luxury. The styling is a particular credit - perfectly sophisticated while gently modernised from the marque's earlier heyday.

This example has had just one former registered keeper before the current vendor acquired it in 2020, and wears few signs of wear. The vendor proudly notes that it's in fine condition both inside and out, and that it starts first time with little fuss — smooth, refined, and with ample power from its 3.6-litre six.
