The Appeal

The Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country is a compelling package – a compact, raised-ride-height hatchback driven through all four wheels by a characterful 2.0-litre five-cylinder engine producing 213 BHP. Very few were sold new in the UK, too, so this Japanese import is a genuinely rare sight on British roads. Factor in that sonorous exhaust note and you've got a very impressive modern classic.

This example was personally imported from Japan by the seller, with all taxes paid and the car now registered on UK plates. The original Japanese auction sheet – graded 4 overall – is available, along with all original manuals and a service booklet stamped at 13,300 km. The seller can provide a detailed timeline of the entire import process.

On the mechanical front, an overheating issue in slow-moving traffic was resolved with a new electric cooling fan fitted by Volvo specialist GB Autos. The vendor reports the car is now running without fault, with smooth gearbox shifts and a healthy-sounding engine. Four new Yokohama tyres have been fitted, and the TFT dashboard has been converted to MPH and MPG for UK use, and the radio band has been expanded for UK radio channels.

It's an impressive, capable machine through and through, that we think will attract plenty of attention at auction.
