Highlights
- Very low mileage of 5,362 miles
- Well kept trike in blue with red two-seat interior
- 1,289cc Renault 5 Cleon-Fonte petrol engine with 4spd manual
- Appears to be one of the 59 Callister factory-built trickles
- Garage-stored under covers when not in use
The Appeal
The DRK Trike was launched in 1987 to give kit-car builders something undeniably different to work on. In 1990 production passed to Callister & Roscoe, a specialist body repair workshop, which began offering factory built cars to custom specs. 59 were built and photographs and dating details indicate that this well kept DRK is one of them.
All DRKs were built to run on Renault running gear, including the option of a 1.3L turbo! This DRK uses the larger 1.3L Renault naturally aspirated Cleon-Fonte engine from the R5 mated to a manual gearbox. DVLA records show a colour change from gold to blue, which is likely when it was built, which photographs in the history file support. It is registered as a DRK with DVLA but takes its 1980 build date from the donor car, so could be eligible for Historic Vehicle status. The vendor tells us that the trike has had just two keepers since completion.
Its six keepers appear to have covered just 5,362 miles since it was built, although this is not verified. The vendor acquired it last year and tells us that it has been carefully dry stored when not in use. For classic enthusiasts looking for something different, classics don’t get much more different, or rare, than this.
Key Information

- Country of registration: United Kingdom
- MOT status: no current MOT
- Technical specs: 1,289cc engine, four-speed manual transmission

Buyers should note that this trike is recorded as first registered in 1980 so is theoretically eligible for Historic Vehicle status by age. It is not currently registered as a Historic Vehicle.
