Description

Background:

Mercedes-Benz entered the premium pickup market with the X-Class in 2017, combining the practicality and load-carrying ability expected of a working pickup with the presentation, equipment and refinement associated with the three-pointed star.

Developed in conjunction with the Nissan Navara, the X-Class was nevertheless given a distinctly Mercedes-Benz identity, with its own exterior styling, interior treatment and chassis tuning. The result was a pickup intended to work equally well as a practical commercial vehicle and as everyday transport. Marketed as the world's first true "premium" pickup, it was built as part of a joint venture with Nissan and shares its core chassis, platform, and engine setup with the popular Nissan Navara.

The X250d is powered by a Nissan-sourced engine but heavily tuned by Mercedes-Benz for improved refinement and acoustic comfort. The 2.3-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel produced 187bhp fed through a seven-speed automatic gearbox (optioned with a six-speed manual in this case) and onwards through a part-time 4MATIC four-wheel-drive system, offering 2H (rear-wheel drive), 4H (high-range 4x4 up to 62 mph), and 4L (low-range 4x4) modes.

The Car:

Dating from 2018, this X250d is finished in Chisana White and has covered just under 35,000 miles. The vendor describes it as having been particularly well cared for, presenting very well both above and below. The gleaming white bodywork is complemented by a number of black styling additions, including extended wheel arches, black Mercedes-Benz alloy wheels and side steps. Combined with the chunky Patriot 20-inch all-terrain tyres, they give the X-Class a noticeably more purposeful stance without detracting from its fundamental practicality.

The load area has been fitted with a rear canopy and useful storage drawer system, considerably increasing the versatility of the pickup bed whilst providing secure, covered storage. Additional equipment includes a front protection bar and LED light bar, whilst privacy glass complements the black exterior detailing.

Interestingly, our vendor advises that the X-Class has never been fitted with a tow bar, something worth noting given the working lives often experienced by vehicles of this type.

The specification and additions include:

  • 2.3-litre X250d turbo-diesel engine
  • Six-speed manual gearbox
  • Rear canopy
  • Rear storage drawer system
  • Black Mercedes-Benz 20-inch alloy wheels
  • Patriot all-terrain tyres
  • Extended black wheel arches
  • Side steps
  • Front protection bar
  • LED light bar
  • Privacy glass

The X-Class is accompanied by an excellent history file, supporting its comparatively modest 35,000 miles.

Condition:

The overall condition is a particularly appealing aspect of this example with our vendor describing the Mercedes as being exceptionally clean inside, outside and underneath, consistent with a vehicle that has clearly seen careful ownership.

The white bodywork presents particularly well, whilst the contrasting black wheel arches, wheels, side steps and other exterior additions provide a purposeful appearance and Inside, the cloth upholstery is reported to remain in excellent condition. Pleasingly, the seats have been protected by covers from new, helping to preserve the original material beneath. The underside is also described as being in very good condition, an important consideration with any pickup that may potentially have experienced demanding working use.

With just 35,000 miles, a six-speed manual gearbox and a useful selection of additions including the rear canopy and storage system, this X250d offers an appealing combination of practicality and presentation. The fact that it has never had a tow bar fitted is another interesting detail suggesting that it appears to have enjoyed a relatively gentle life.

Offered through our Iconic Online Sale, prospective bidders are encouraged to study the accompanying service history, photographs and condition information and to satisfy themselves as to the vehicle's specification, condition and history prior to bidding.
