The Appeal

The Silver Seraph was launched alongside the Bentley Arnage, and sits in a rather unique position as the last to be built at the legendary Crewe factory before the separation of the Rolls-Royce and Bentley brands. Replacing the Silver Spirit and Spur was an unenviable task, but the new car sailed its way into the zeitgeist with ease.
Powered by a 5.4-litre V12 and paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox, the silky-smooth Seraph was a huge step forward from its predecessors, and with fewer than 240 examples currently registered in the UK, it has become a genuinely rare motor car.

This particular example, the 64th car built, carries a fascinating provenance. Originally a special order destined for Brunei, it was specified with an all-black leather interior featuring a black leather headlining and a distinctive silver paint finish with a "frost" deviation - a treatment that causes the shade of silver to shift according to the light conditions and the angle from which the car is viewed.
The order was cancelled just before completion, and the car was subsequently registered by Rolls-Royce in February 1998, one month before the model's official launch on 3rd March 1998. It is thought to have been used in connection with the launch for viewing or demonstration purposes before being delivered to a dealership in the south of England in April 1998.

Acquired by the current keeper in early 2016, the car holds a valid MOT through to January 2027.
