Description
KEY FACTS
- This 328 GTB is a striking V8 sports car, which is said to have been prepared to Group 3 specifications.
- It is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.2-litre V8, driving the rear wheels via a five-speed open-gate manual transmission.
- Originally delivered to Germany in left-hand drive format, the car was reportedly converted to right-hand drive in the early 1990s.
- This example is now located in the UK, where it has been with the seller for six years. It was first registered with the DVLA in November 1988.
- The seller notes that it has been raced in the Ferrari Superformance race series.
- The car does not have an FIA Historical Technical Passport.
- The odometer indicates 71,715 km, though this is not warranted.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
- This 328 GTB is finished in the iconic shade of Rosso Corsa with white racing roundels on the bonnet and doors, and various sponsorship decals. It has been stripped of its pop-up headlamps in favour of lightweight blanking plates and features Group 3 race equipment, including an FIA-compliant roll cage by Protection in Performance, front and rear tow straps, and internal and external pulls for the fire suppression system.
- The cabin is now equipped with red and black cloth-trimmed Cobra bucket seats, an Alcantara-trimmed Momo dished steering wheel, an engine start button, and a master electrical cut-off switch.
- It rides on a set of 17-inch Speedline multi-spoke alloy wheels finished in gold and fitted with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres.
- The specification includes a full BTB custom exhaust system with header pipes, all carpets removed for weight savings, kill switches, Sabelt harnesses, a plumbed-in Lifeline fire extinguisher system, a Stack rev-counter, Koni dampers with uprated springs, braided brake lines, an uprated clutch, a WalkerSport custom air induction system, a glass-sealed battery, an aluminium radiator with a Kenlowe fan, alloy pedals, an uprated oil cooler, WalkerSport/Magnecor race plug leads, an alloy breather tank, silicone water hoses, an uprated fuel metering system, a K&N air filter, LED running lights, and a Longacre control console on the transmission tunnel.
- The car comes with the original owner’s handbook and service booklet, two A4 binders of maintenance history, and four A4 binders documenting its full race history.
- A single original key is included, which operates the door locks.
- A large selection of spares is also included, comprising brake discs and pads, a clutch assembly, a transponder, and a spare set of racing alloy wheels with tyres.
CONDITION
- Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition.
- Specific notes from the seller include: racing incident damage to the front left-hand wing in 2021. The front bumper was resprayed to refresh stone-chip damage. There are some stone chips to the front bumper’s lower spoiler and to the lower edge of the front wings. Inside, the carpets have been stripped out.
- The most recent MOT was on 16 January 2020 at an indicated 66,189 km, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories.
SERVICE HISTORY
- The last maintenance was performed in March 2023, which included engine oil and gearbox oil changes, a new clutch, new spark plugs and brake pads, fire extinguisher replacement, and a full suspension setup and corner weighting.
- The shock absorbers were reconditioned and serviced by SP Suspension in January 2023.
- In 2022, the car underwent a service at Diverserides, which included changing the engine and gearbox oils, installing new timing belts, replacing the brake discs and pads, installing new seatbelts, and fitting a new plumbed-in fire extinguisher system, as well as adjusting the setup/corner weighting.
- In 2021, it had engine and gearbox oil changes, a clutch system replacement, ignition components renewed, new brake components, and another full setup plus corner weight.
- In January 2020, technicians at M.D.L.Cars carried out an annual service, which included the cam belts being replaced, an additional starter relay being fitted, a new start switch, new sump gaskets, the alternator being repositioned, the dashboard being replaced, the dashboard modified to fit a small Stack unit, and the handbrake cable being resecured.
