The Appeal
The 1950s were a golden era for the American automobile. This 1954 Chrysler Imperial Coupé belongs in a Norman Rockwell painting, striking a piece of Americana from the technicolour post-war age. It's a wonderful thing, and as the photographs and accompanying silverware attest, it has been restored to a very good standard.
Powered by Chrysler's revered 331 cubic inch Hemi V8 and equipped from the factory with power steering, power brakes, power seats, and power windows, the Imperial was Detroit's answer to the very finest grand tourers of the era. This example has been recognised on the show circuit and is reported to run and drive as one would expect of a car of this calibre.
The vendor says:
"It is a stunning car from the period in amazing condition, restored to its original high standard. It drives as you would expect from a high-class model of its time. Overall, an amazing car which has won 2 awards this year: AACC Nationals at Upton and the AAAC Rally of the Giants at Henley. It is fitted as standard with power steering, power brakes, power seats, power windows, clock and radio."
