Description

Background:
Introduced as the ultimate evolution of the Maserati Coupé and Spyder range, the GranSport combined sharper styling, revised suspension and a more focused driving experience. It featured the same delectably sonorous 4,244cc V8 engine, however, a new exhaust system, improved intake manifolds, and bigger valves squeezed an extra 10bhp to bring it up to a neat, even 400bhp supported by 333lb/ft of torque. 0-62mph occupied around 4.9 seconds and the revised aerodynamics enabled a top speed of 180mph. The six-speed paddle-shift system was also upgraded and re-calibrated resulting in faster, crisper changes and the suspension was lowered by 10mm and the geometry tweaked, all helping the GranSport deliver a more engaging and sporting character while retaining the comfort and usability expected of a 'grand touring' convertible. Today, the GranSport Spyder remains a distinctive and increasingly appreciated modern Maserati, offering open-top motoring accompanied by one of the marque’s most memorable naturally aspirated V8 soundtracks.

The Car:
Registered in 2006, this Maserati GranSport Spyder is finished in Rosso Mondiale with a full Nero leather interior and matching red carpets. The current owner has enjoyed the car for nearly three years and is reluctantly offering it for sale due to a lack of garage space.

The car has recently returned from a major service carried out by renowned Maserati specialist McGrath Maserati in January, at a cost in excess of £3,000, where it received a clean bill of health. The last three services during the current ownership have all been undertaken by McGrath Maserati, with any recommended work carried out as required.

Presented in excellent condition, the paintwork retains a strong finish with no fading evident and inside, the cabin has been well preserved, with the leather upholstery showing no excessive wear and the matching carpets remaining in good order. The commonly encountered 'sticky' interior plastics were professionally rectified by McGrath Maserati in 2023.

Mechanically, the GranSport is described as excellent, with specialist inspections welcomed. Major wear items remain in good condition, with both the clutch and brake discs having covered only a few thousand miles. Clutch wear was measured at just 13% less than 2,000 miles ago, and the automated manual transmission is reported to deliver smooth and rapid gear changes.

Recent maintenance includes:
• Major service completed by McGrath Maserati in January 2026
• Sticky interior plastics rectified by McGrath Maserati in 2023
• Clutch wear checked at 13% less than 2,000 miles ago

A previous owner treated and sealed the underside, which remains clean and protected from surface corrosion. During current ownership, the car has been stored in a Carcoon Veloce and driven exclusively in dry conditions. The owner has maintained a detailed log of journeys undertaken and has consistently used premium fuel, primarily Esso Supreme 99.

The only noted blemish is slight fraying to the hood fabric in a known wear area where the material is placed under tension against the frame, a common characteristic of the model.
