The Appeal

In the hotly contested post-war roadster market, Triumph’s TR3A stood out for its performance and engagement. These cars were tough and rugged too, as repeated success on rallies like the Monte Carlo and Tulip Rally and the Liege-Rome-Liege endurance event proved.

Like most ‘wide mouth’ TR3As, this one began life in the USA before returning home in 2019. The current keeper bought it in 2023. It is a really pretty car in unusual Opalescent Gunmetal grey with matching 60-spoke wires and a nicely trimmed charcoal leather cabin. The specification is equally compelling, with the 2,038cc engine fitted with 2,138cc pistons and liners and an optional factory overdrive gearbox. We’re told that it has been garaged since purchase. Recent work has included a new roof and tonneau, plus replacement splined hubs and a new battery.

Recently serviced, this TR3A presents as a handsome, very usable classic ready to enjoy.

The vendor says:

“Drives as it should; overdrive is great fun to use, and it gives you 7 gears.”
