The Appeal
One of Alfa Romeo’s longest-running models, the Spider benefitted from a host of improvements and enhancements during its 28-year production run. One of the most significant of these was the raft of changes that resulted in the ‘Series 4’ model of 1990, which included full-width body-coloured bumpers and full-width rear taillights, plus electronic fuel injection for the twin-cam engine. These enhanced the model’s appeal , while retaining its key ingredients, including classic ‘long bonnet, short tail’ style and rear wheel-drive.
This is a lovely example, which was originally registered in Italy in 1990 before being imported to the UK. The car has been well-cared for throughout its life. The seller states that the car comes with a binder containing service receipts and MOT certificates dating from November 1990 (at 1,300 miles) to earlier this year (less than 100 miles ago). The last MOT included no advisories, and the seller states that there has never been a structural advisory. The seller states that the car has also been regularly treated with Dinitrol clear finish rust-proofing.
The exterior is believed to be original, with only minor age-related blemishes. The interior, originally tan vinyl, has been professionally re-trimmed using grained Italian Nappa leather with Alfa Romeo embossed crests and ‘tricolore’ centres on the seats.
