The Appeal

The arrival of the Clubvan in 2012 was a nod by modern MINI to the classic Morris Mini-Van and Austin Se7en Vans of the 60s and 70s. They were a sales juggernaut, notching up over half a million sales. BMW presumably hoped demand for its Clubman-based van would be similar, but times had changed, and poor marketing meant that less than 1,000 were sold worldwide before the plug was pulled in 2014.

That makes this Ice Blue Clubvan exceptionally rare. These unusual models are increasingly sought after by enthusiasts, but there are good reasons to want one beyond specialist interest. A big load area, characterful styling and a very economical Cooper D 1.6L engine mean this 2014 example makes a great practical load lugger and advertisement for a small business.

The vendor tells us that the previous keeper had owned it for seven years before he acquired it last year. The condition reflects the car’s dry storage throughout its life and low mileage for the year. It’s clear that, unlike most vans, this one has led an easy life. Since buying it the vendor has had it serviced with a new fan belt and fitted four new tyres. It also comes with an Irish technical inspection valid until December 2026 with no advisories. The vendor tells us that the tester was very complimentary about its condition.

As an antidote to more common small vans, this practical Clubman has a lot going for it.
