The Appeal

The fibreglass-bodied, quintessentially British Scimitar is one of the most characterful sporting estates of the 1970s. Famously championed by Princess Anne, the SE5A combined genuine grand touring ability with estate-car practicality, powered by Ford's torquey 3.0-litre Essex V6. The manual gearbox with overdrive is widely regarded as the most desirable drivetrain option - perfectly suited to touring and ever-engaging.

This particular example has been in the care of its current registered keeper since 1979 - a remarkable tenure of 47 years. With just two registered keepers from new and an indicated 50,840 miles supported by MOT certificates dating back to 1984 and an HPI report, there's plenty to attract enthusiasts to this fine car. The rare April Yellow livery goes some way to make for a truly striking car.

During 2025 and 2026, the car underwent a thorough restoration by GT Autos Restoration Specialist. The bodywork was stripped back, properly sealed, primed and resprayed in the factory-specification April Yellow. Mechanical work included attention to the fuel system, ignition, cooling and lubrication, while a stainless steel exhaust system and fuel tank were fitted along with four new tyres and a new battery.
Accompanied by a fresh voluntary MOT, the vendor tells us that this fine example is ready and waiting for its lucky new keeper.
