The Appeal
With its shark-nosed styling and rear-wheel drive dynamics, the Opel Manta was a head-turner the moment it hit the market. The German sports coupe was engaging and characterful, with sharp steering and light-footed balance as opposed to the more muscular straight-line operation of its American counterparts. As a result, the Manta is arguably a more practical, laid-back machine for day-to-day driving.
This automatic example is a rarity - the vast majority having left the production line with manual transmissions. Finished in its original striking yellow with a Rallye black bonnet and side stripes, it's certainly a bold machine.
This example is reported to be original, retaining its factory bodywork, engine, interior, wheels and even its original fuel cap. It was kept within the same family from new until 2013, when the current owner acquired it. The accompanying history file contains service records and MOT certificates dating back to new, along with a Manta A brochure and Haynes workshop manual. A Brookes picnic hamper is included in the sale for good measure.
