The Mk2 Astra GTE 16V was one of the defining hot hatches of the late 1980s, with its 2.0-litre 16-valve 'Red Top' engine, shared with the Cavalier SRi and later the Calibra, offering genuine pace and it has since become a staple among Vauxhall enthusiasts
Vauxhall's 1,998cc, 16-valve four-cylinder with multi-point injection offered 155bhp and 150lb/ft of torque fed through a five-speed gearbox to the front wheels enabling 0-60 in eight seconds and 135mph
