The Appeal
Before the Europa, very few road cars carried a mid-engine layout. Colin Chapman's latest baby decided to stand out from the crowd with exactly that. As with everything from the Hethel firm, the focus was on simplifying and adding lightness, resulting in a remarkably charismatic machine. The Europa benefited from learnings taken from the Elan - a lightweight, folded and welded boxed-steel backbone chassis with a fibreglass moulded body.
This 1972 example is finished in the very rare pistachio green, which suits the car's retro-futurist styling down to the ground. It underwent a comprehensive body-off restoration around 2000, during which the engine was rebuilt by marque specialist Banks Europa. Having been in the same hands for 14 years, this Europa Twin Cam is well sorted and ready to go - a highly impressive example that's ready and waiting for its lucky new keeper.
