Description
Fast Mercedes saloons have always occupied a special place in the performance car world, and few are as understated or as rewarding as the C55 AMG. The Brilliant Silver finish retains an excellent shine and depth, with only age-related marks expected of a well-maintained twenty-year-old performance car. Overall, it presents as an honest, smart example that has clearly been cherished. On the passenger front wing there are two small stone chips, which have been pictured in detail. The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint. The body presents extremely well throughout, with the silver paintwork highlighting the clean lines of the W203 generation. Panel fit appears consistent and the AMG-specific bumpers, side skirts and subtle boot spoiler remain in excellent order. Being a Japanese import, the underside and body have avoided many of the corrosion issues often associated with UK-market examples. We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves. The dashboard is clean and uncluttered, with everything operating exactly as Mercedes intended. Switchgear, instrumentation, and controls all feel reassuringly solid, reflecting the quality for which these cars became known. Whilst the speedometer is printed in Kph, the central digital display can show MPH, and all the map systems can provide MPH information and warnings. The car is fitted with an aftermarket "Dynavin 8" modern infotainment system, which was professionally fitted to replace the Mercedes system - whilst retaining its OEM appearance. It provides modern functionality including DAB, USB access in the glove box, GPS navigation through its own system or through Wired Android Auto / Apple Car Play - allowing use of Waze and Google maps, as well as Spotify or Amazon Music, from your phone. The steering wheel controls operate the system, including the phone functionality. The C55 AMG remains one of those rare cars that feels equally at home on the motorway as it does on a twisting B-road. The V8 provides effortless acceleration throughout the rev range, while the refined chassis and comfortable cabin make covering long distances a genuine pleasure. Phillip describes the car as driving beautifully and reports that it has been faultless throughout his ownership. The exterior trim, lights, and glass all complement the car nicely, with the distinctive quad headlamps remaining bright and clear. Chrome detailing remains in good order, while the AMG badging and subtle styling cues provide just the right amount of presence without being showy. Please view the photos and video below to review the condition of the glass and trim for yourself. The factory AMG alloy wheels remain in excellent condition and perfectly suit the subtly muscular styling of the C55. A matching set of Michelin tyres is fitted all round, giving confidence that the car has been maintained with quality components rather than budget replacements. Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old. Inside, the cabin is exactly what you'd expect from an AMG of this era: solidly built, comfortable, and designed for covering long distances at speed. The black AMG leather seats are electrically-adjustable with memory function. They remain in excellent condition, showing only light wear consistent with careful ownership. Both front seats remain supportive and retain their original shape. The rear seats fold, and come with ISOFIX connectors. Please take a look at the photos and video below to decide on the condition of the seats and carpets for yourself. At the heart of the C55 sits AMG's renowned 5.4-litre naturally aspirated V8, an engine celebrated for its effortless power delivery, reliability, and unmistakable soundtrack. Phillip reports that the engine performs exactly as it should, with no unwanted noises or mechanical concerns. Shortly after purchasing the car, Phillip commissioned a comprehensive service which included replacing all fluids, providing a solid maintenance baseline for his ownership. The automatic transmission complements the V8 perfectly, delivering smooth, responsive gear changes whether cruising or making the most of the engine's performance. All electrical systems are reported to be functioning correctly - including the air conditioning - with no faults or warning lights noted during the current ownership. The car is supported by a full service history, further reinforcing the level of care it has received throughout its life and giving confidence to its next owner. Included with the car is a full service history, documenting regular maintenance from new through to the current ownership. Shortly after purchasing the Mercedes around 18 months ago, Phillip commissioned a comprehensive service that included replacing all fluids, ensuring the car started his ownership with a clean maintenance baseline. Combined with its history as a Japanese import and its excellent overall condition, the accompanying paperwork provides reassuring evidence of a well-cared-for and properly maintained AMG. We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check. We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming. If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house. The suspension strikes an excellent balance between comfort and control, giving the C55 the composed road manners expected of an AMG sports saloon. The steering feels precise and confidence inspiring, while the braking system performs strongly with reassuring stopping power, making the car equally capable on longer journeys or more spirited drives. The AMG multifunction steering wheel remains in excellent condition and perfectly suits the character of the C55, offering a comfortable grip while placing the key controls within easy reach. Beside it, the automatic gear selector operates smoothly, complementing the effortless nature of the 5.4-litre V8. Together, they create a driving position that feels every bit as refined as it does performance-focused, making the C55 equally enjoyable on long motorway journeys or spirited drives on your favourite B-roads.
